Iman was fostered long term by a Capstone foster family after experiencing a difficult time. She’s now been part of a Fostering Panel to assess potential foster carers.
In 2007, Iman was fostered long term by a Capstone foster family after experiencing a difficult time. She wasn’t attending school regularly and had fallen behind her classmates.
Iman has thrived since 2007 and is now staying put. She has achieved exceptional achievements in education, gaining 10 GCSEs in 2014, with As in English and Textile Technology. She is currently in the final year of a Clothing and Design course at the Fashion Retail Academy and later this year she will be going to university.
Iman is extremely creative, and she has a talent for making clothes and accessories. In 2015, Iman was thrilled to be picked as one of fifteen to pitch a design to top high street retailer, Topman. Iman’s passion for retail fashion led her to volunteer at a local charity shop (Mind) to increase her work experience, and gain understanding of the industry.
Iman is keen to share her insight into fostering and has supported Capstone on various projects. When a ‘Children’s Champion’ was recruited by Capstone, Iman was on the interviewing panel, sharing her perspective with applicants about meeting the needs of looked after children. Iman has also spoken at Skills to Foster with potential carers about the realities of fostering, and the outcomes that are possible. Iman is now keen to be involved in Capstone’s panel and share her insight further with potential foster carers, to support others to build brighter futures.
