It’s the official Macmillan’s coffee morning day today! Macmillan’s coffee morning is the world’s biggest fundraising event to help people who are suffering from cancer. The event started with humble beginnings back in 1990 where people got together and donated the cost of a cup of coffee. To date, the famous coffee morning has since gone on to raise over £290 million for Macmillan, which is incredible.
The official date is today, however a Macmillan coffee morning can be held anytime. During September, some of our foster carers, young people and staff from Barnsley, Heywood and Bradford have managed to get together on different occasions for a coffee, cake and catch up and have raised a fantastic £82.50.
One in two of us will develop cancer at some point in our lives according to Cancer Research UK and most of us have been touched by cancer in some way. Macmillan Cancer Support is one of the largest British charities and provides specialist health care, information and financial support to people affected by cancer.
