The utterly heart-breaking situation in Ukraine has caused unimaginable and long-lasting devastation to the lives of children, young people and their families across the country.
Children are at the very centre of all that we do at Capstone Foster Care and we offer our deepest sympathy to all those affected by the brutalities of the war and the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
To offer our support to the families of Ukraine during this incredibly difficult time, Capstone Foster Care has made a donation, which will be matched pound for pound by the UK Government, to the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC).
Many of our foster families will be looking for ways to navigate difficult conversations and anxieties during this uncertain time as children and young people ask questions or share their worries.
We have shared resources to help families talk with children sensitively and we will provide additional emotional and well-being support, should they feel the need to talk about any concerns they may have.
There may be unaccompanied children, separated from their families who require safe and nurturing foster placements whilst they wait to be reunited. We will fully support any carers who feel able to help these children rebuild their lives and recover from the profound trauma they have undoubtedly experienced.
