Our Devon carers Lisa, Kevin and their foster child A recently took part in the 5k ‘Race for Life’ in Barnstaple. The cause is one that’s close to A’s heart having lost two members of her family to cancer over the last year. Whilst the day was emotional it was fun too and when asked about the run Lisa said: “A was amazing! She wore a sign saying: For Julie and Grandad. I miss you. Love lots A’. When I explained what we were about to do she said "OMG! 5 whole km? Is that long?". She was determined to run the whole way and she did so with a smile on her face! We had a lovely day, it was emotional, but the atmosphere was inspiring. It was lovely to see her obviously feeling proud of her achievement. Alica had sent a text to our friends and family - I'm in the race for life today because I miss my Auntie and my Grandad. Let's beat cancer! Thank you, A xxx. A raised an amazing £280.00 + £36.25 gift aid and would love to raise more for this great cause.” As a family Lisa, Kevin and A raised a whopping £695.00 + £95.00 gift aid in total thanks to the generosity of their family and friends. Incredible!
