Our children and young people make kind gifts for loved ones

17th February, 2020

On Wednesday 5th February, our team at Capstone North ran their first craft activity event of the year and after discussions with our children and young people, it was decided that they wanted to start family craft evenings. This time they based their craft event on National Random Act of Kindness Day and asked the children and young people to make Valentine's cards and gifts for their chosen loved ones as an act of kindness. The family event was run by our three support workers Hayley, Helen and Emma, our carer Trish and her young person Eve who helped all the children make the handmade crafts. Eve has a passion for design and is great at supporting the other young people and encouraging them to get involved. She is one of our chosen children’s ambassadors for Capstone North and she has already become an excellent role model to the other the children. A number of our foster families came along to the evening and enjoyed making Valentine's gifts and cards for their loved ones. There was a variety of craft materials set out and they could choose what they wanted to make, which consisted of trinket boxes, silk flowers, oasis, cards, glitter, wooden plaques and even chocolates. Our team at Capstone North really want to inspire our young people to get involved with new hobbies and our carers help lead groups like this that they specialise in. We can’t wait for the next craft event to see some more special gifts that the children choose to create.
