In May 2018, our staff from the North group took part in the Manchester 10k. Three members of our Bradford office Debbie, Cathy and Vivienne ran the 10k in memory of one of the carers from the Bradford area who unfortunately passed away after a battle with cancer.
Gillian was a valued foster carer, kind, caring and is sadly missed. The Bradford team wanted to run in tribute of Gillian and to raise funds for St Michael's Hospice which took such good care of Gillian in her last year.
St Michael's exists to ensure that as many people as possible in the Harrogate and Ripon District have access to the end of life care and bereavement services they want and deserve. This means that they offer a service that is free, in an environment of the patient's choice and where every individual is treated with dignity and respect. With more and more people requiring their services, they rely on support.
Last week Cathy and Lindsay from our Bradford office visited St Michael's Hospice to present the contribution from Capstone of £500 and also the money that Debbie, Vivienne and Cathy raised back in May last year. Altogether, we have raised a grand total of £1350.99 in memory of Gillian, of which we are very proud!
Living with a terminal illness can affect a person in many different ways, from changes to their body, their relationships, and their independence, to differences to their sense of self, their social life and their confidence.
Our donation could help someone to access a 10-week package of Day Therapy, where patients have access to a range of experts who can help with any physical, emotional, social or spiritual challenges they may be having, and support them to achieve their goals. Our efforts will make a big difference to the patients, clients and their families who St Michael's Hospice care for and support not only today but in the months and years ahead.
