Catherine runs for Ronald McDonald House!

, our Senior Practitioner Catherine (part of our North team), was due to run the Bolton Marathon for a cause close to her heart - Ronald McDonald House at Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool, but sadly this was cancelled due to Coronavirus. Her daughter Rose, was saved by a remarkable team of surgeons. At only 5 months old, she went through open-heart surgery whilst all they could do as parents were watch and pray she would be okay. This is where Ronald McDonald House came in. They not only gave them the comfort of having a base but knowing they could be right by Rose's side at any time, should she need them, was so reassuring. For 27 years they have provided home from home accommodation for the families of seriously ill children receiving care and treatment at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. Every year more than 2,000 families go through their doors; they offer support and a safe place, just a stone’s throw away from the hospital, as they experience the toughest time of their lives. Therefore, Catherine wanted to give something back by running a marathon and raising as much money as she could to help them continue to help other families like hers who need to be by their seriously ill children.

Catherine said, "Many of you will know that my training for this was started way before lockdown and although part of me has resigned myself to it all being over, I woke up one Saturday with a bit of a crazy idea to see if I could actually achieve it on my own."

After a gruelling 4 hours, Catherine had done it and there to support her was her little cheering squad! Catherine has been blown away by everyone's generous donations and support.
