A blog written by Catherine Lockett:
As I dragged myself out of bed on this cold and rainy morning the feeling of dread hit me at the thought of going out and running today. My limbs are shouting at me to stop and this will only make 35k today, but my head is saying get out there, it's less than an hour and you can come back and have a warm shower and a hot drink and breakfast. This is the awakening call, that this is a very small price to pay if it means that someone can eat today, just one meal!
The 7 of us, the 'Magnificent 7', have continued to support one another, send pictures not only for evidence, but for motivation. It was only a few weeks ago that Emma and Emma from Excel Fostering who are part of the Capstone Foster Care Group, walked for 14 hours from Burnley to Lytham to raise funds for the Marcus Rashford appeal – isn’t it shocking that children and their families don’t know how they will afford their next meal?
At this time when Covid has changed all our lives we need to spare a thought for the hospitality industry that has yet again had to close their doors, I say this because this small pub in Tameside relied on fundraising in their pub to ensure they could feed homeless people, young and old and ensure they were able to see a warm friendly face when they made the journey to see these wonderful volunteers.
So, if you haven’t donated already, (and if you have for the Magnificent 7, thankyou), then even £2 WILL make a difference to the project and enable it to keep it running for longer as a lifeline to many vulnerable homeless people.
If you want to donate and help raise money for the much needed project, you can donate here.
