Social Worker Alison from Capstone South West is running the Sierra Leone Marathon in May for Street Child. She is hoping to raise over £1000! Click here for Ali's sponsor page. Here's her story in her own words!
I am turning 40 this year and wanted to complete my first marathon somewhere special! When I read about Street Child, I knew that I had found something special. I was inspired by the work of Street Child and wanted to support them by raising money as part of my participation in the Sierra Leone Marathon 2018. The money raised on my page will go towards providing a child with education, school uniform as well as training teachers. Very excitingly, Street Child is in the middle of our Right to Learn Appeal which means that everything we fundraise between now and 15th February will be doubled by the UK Government; For example, a donation of £30 is enough to send a child to school for a year, whereas a £50 donation with match funding can supply a whole school with their teaching resources for a year. Please help me help them by giving whatever you can use the 'Give Now' button (follow the link below). A massive Thank you to Capstone for supporting me to do this. Keep up to date with my training and photos on my Just Giving page. I will also be doing a pre-marathon practice run on Sunday the 6th of May along Bournemouth beach. So if you fancy a sunny day out, come join, it would be amazing to have your support. Don’t forget to spread the word.
